Brasenose two in Under 30

forbesBrasenose College was well represented in the 2016 EU Forbes 30 Under 30, with not one but two alumni named among the list of Europe’s best and brightest under the age of 30 in the Science & Healthcare and Finance categories.

Brasenose alumnus Dr Matthew Cole (Engineering Science, 2004), has been named in the inaugural 2016 EU Forbes 30 under 30 list in the Science and Healthcare category. As Director of Cambridge Xray Systems, who develop nanomaterial based Xray emission systems, Dr Cole has joined the ranks of Europe's top young leaders, creative inventors, and entrepreneurs.

After studying at Brasenose, Dr Cole (pictured on the left) went on to complete a PhD in Electrical Engineering in the Department of Engineering at Cambridge University. He is currently a Fellow of St Edmund's College, at Cambridge, where he holds the Oppenheimer Research Fellowship. He investigates the heterogeneous integration of chemical vapour deposited aligned nanomaterials in nanoscale vacuum electronics devices, alongside his post as Director of Cambridge Xray Systems.

Also making the list in the finance section, a fellow Brasenose alumnus, Andre De Haes (Philosophy & Modern Languages, 2006). Andre (pictured right) is the Founder of Backed VC, a Euro 30m seed fund which provides entrepreneurs with extensive hiring, marketing and global expansion services. Backed VC's philosophy is to do right by the founders of the businesses they back financially, determined to raise the bar in their industry.
