Prince Alexander Obolensky was a member of an exiled Russian family. He already had a reputation as a Rugby player when he came up to Brasenose in 1934 and he played for the University and for England whilst he was an undergraduate.
He joined the R.A.F. at the beginning of World War II and was tragically killed in a flying accident in March 1940, the first Brasenose man to die on active service in that war.
The World Rugby Museum at Twickenham is a great resource for anyone interested in the history of rugby and individual rugby players.
